During the class of Digital Media Arts 2, the learning objectives are to be able to use tools to globally and selectively edit images using adjustment with masking layers. Also, be able to use healing and repair tools to alter digital images and be able to blend multiple layers or photographs within the same photograph. This is valuable to my future because I can make a side business with my knowledge. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for Digital Media Arts 2 had the learning objectives of using different tools to combine images and enhance them.
The assignment or project was about creating two double exposure images. The process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with looking at double exposure images. Then we gathered up images that inspired us. I wanted to do something related to Christmas because it’s right around the corner. I also wanted to do a beach-related project because we live right next to it. Luckily we got to do two images. Then we began taking pictures of our textures. I began taking pictures of objects in my house and the only images I liked from that were the Christmas tree ornaments. So, I asked my brother if he could drive to different locations so I can get more interesting images. Once I had enough images that I liked I began taking the portraits. My sister wanted me to take pictures of my nephew for her Instagram so I had the opportunity to use those images for my project. She also allowed me to take portraits of her for the second image. After I began editing the images in camera raw I wanted to use for the project. Once I got the original images to a point where I liked them I combined two images into one in photoshop, a texture, and a portrait. In this project, we learned two new techniques. We learned how to make a watermark, with the text tool and by drawing it out. Also, how to use midtone boost, which sharpens the image. Throughout this process listed above, I have realized how photoshop can bring images to their best form.
The Two School-Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this artifact are mastering skills needed in career and college and thinking critically and creatively. I have demonstrated mastering skills needed in career and college in the artifact by developing specialized interests and talents. This is important because I have turned my liking of taking pictures and editing them into a hobby. The Second SLO I demonstrated was thinking critically and creatively by transferring learned skills to real life. This is important because it demonstrated that I learned from this class and I’m able to really utilize it.
Overall the most important things I have learned in this class this year are how to use a camera and how to enhance the images in photoshop. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by allowing me to make a business out of a hobby I gained from a class.
