During the class of US Government, the learning objectives are understanding of the principles and procedures of government. This is valuable to my future because it betters my understanding of our country. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for US Government thoroughly explains our government. The assignment I’m reflecting on is the US Government Edgenuity Course which required me to learn vocabulary, watch lessons on government topics, practice what I learned, take quizzes, and tests. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with establishing the origins and founding principles of American government. Then a review of the Constitution and its amendments. I had to investigate the development and extension of civil rights and liberties. Lessons also introduce influential Supreme Court decisions to demonstrate the impact and importance of constitutional rights. The course builds on this foundation by guiding us through the function of government today and the role of citizens in the civic process and culminates in an examination of public policy and the roles of citizens and organizations in promoting policy changes.(e2020) Throughout this process listed above I have realized how complicated our government is. These link back to the course goals by teaching me how our government works.
The Two School-Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this artifact are a self-directed learner who communicates effectively and mastering skills needed in career and college. I have demonstrated a self-directed learner who communicates effectively in the artifact by demonstrating proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This is important because a skill that allows me to communicate with others. The Second SLO I demonstrated was mastering skills needed in career and college by doing Incorporating information and technology in a dynamic world and is important because it lets me understand our government better. I could have improved Representing self, school, and community through personal responsibility and global citizenship by recognizing the interconnectedness of all things better.
Overall the most important thing I have learned in this class this year is understanding our government. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future because government plays a big role in our lives.
