Letter of Entry
During the class of Business Applications the learning objectives are to learn about how to start a business and keep it running. This is valuable to my future because if I consider starting up my own business I will have the knowledge on how to do it. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for Business Applications required us to come up with an innovation.
The assignment or project was a challenge for entrepreneurs to think big and come up with ideas addressing some of the most critical issues today and required me to work with a partner. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with learning about the challenges this year. There were nine challenges; Resonance Philanthropies Youth and Well-Being Challenge, Intuit Education Sustainable Careers Challenge, Citi Foundation Gender Equality Challenge, Bank of the West Clean Energy Challenge, Mastercard financial Access Challenge, Paypal Equality for All Challenge, Assurant Stronger Communities Challenge, Moody’s Foundation Climate Change Challenge, and EY Belonging Challenge. The Challenge my partner and I decided to do was the first one, Resonance Philanthropies Youth and Well-Being Challenge. Resonance Philanthropies Youth and Well-Being Challenge was to enhance the well-being of children or teens living with a physical or mental illness or disability. I wanted to do this challenge to help families around the world who don’t have access to clean water. I began doing my own write up about how I would meet the challenge after I finished my write up I combined ideas with my partner. After both of our ideas were combined we began working on the logo and story board. I asked one of my classmates to help me draw the idea I had for the logo and she made it just the way I pictured it. After the logo we worked on the video. As my partner looked for images to add to the video I began writing the dialog. Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned how to come up with an invention that is in need and how to work in a team.
The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact are Mastering skills needed in career and college and Thinking critically and creatively. I have demonstrated Mastering skills needed in career and college in the artifact by demonstrating that I am able to work independently and collaboratively. This is important because colleges and careers will expect that I can work both ways. The Second SLO I demonstrated was Thinking critically and creatively by doing taking calculated risks and is important because in the future I will need to take risk in order to advance. Good entrepreneurs take many risks. I could have improved Applying technological skills for the 21st century by demonstrating the practices of sound financial planning, budgeting, and marketing while writing about my innovation.
Overall the most important things I have learned in this class this year are basic entrepreneurial skills and how to apply them to my daily life. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by allowing me to have more opportunities school and carrerwise.
